A tragic incident in Ogun State has claimed the lives of a Celestial Church of Christ evangelist, Abidemi Odukoya, and his wife, Adenike, following an alleged domestic altercation at their residence in the Akinode/Ibogun community.
The incident reportedly occurred in the early hours of Monday, August 25, when the couple allegedly had a disagreement that escalated into a physical confrontation.
According to accounts from community members, Adenike was found unconscious and seriously injured inside the couple’s home after residents reportedly heard cries for help.
A former Chairman of the Community Development Association, Adejimi Olawumi, said he was alerted by neighbours and later found the woman lying in a pool of blood.
Community members reportedly began searching for Odukoya after discovering that he was no longer at the residence. He was later said to have been involved in a road accident in the Ifo area of Ogun State.
According to the account, police took the cleric to a hospital, where his identity was confirmed. He subsequently died from injuries sustained in the incident.

The couple’s younger sister reportedly disclosed in a video circulating online that the pair had experienced repeated disagreements in the past. She said they had previously sought intervention following an earlier altercation and urged them to be patient with each other.
The wife was reportedly buried on the day of the incident, while Odukoya was buried on Wednesday, September 2.
The circumstances surrounding the deaths remain unclear, with the Ogun State Police Command confirming that an investigation is ongoing.
The police deputy spokesperson, Opeyemi Oluborode, confirmed the incident and said the command was investigating the matter.
The tragic development has left members of the community and the couple’s relatives seeking answers as authorities work to establish exactly what happened.
