
The National Chairman of the Institute of Appraisers and Cost Engineers (IACE), a Division of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Engr. Ike Iwenofo, MNSE, has reaffirmed the Institute’s commitment to advancing engineering valuation practice in Nigeria while seeking the continued support of the Nigerian Society of Engineers.
Leading members of the institute’s leadership on a courtesy visit to the National Engineering Centre, Abuja, Engr. Iwenofo formally notified the President of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Engr. Ali Alimasuya Rabiu, FNSE, F.ASCE, FAEng, MFR, represented by the Deputy President, Engr. Valerie Ifueko Agberagba, FNSE, of the 2026 IACE National Technical Conference scheduled to hold on Thursday, July 16, 2026, with the NSE President serving as the Chairman of the Occasion.
Engr. Iwenofo explained that the visit was also an opportunity to felicitate with the leadership of the Society and give a brief on the activities and challenges facing the institute.
He disclosed that IACE continues to face stiff industrial resistance from some professional bodies over the practice of engineering valuation, while acknowledging that valuation remains a multidisciplinary field requiring collaboration among professionals.
According to him, the Institute recently participated in a programme organised by the Financial Reporting Council (FRC), where it gave a good account of itself, leading to greater recognition of engineers as qualified valuers in their areas of competence.
The IACE Chairman also announced that his tenure as National Chairman would come to an end during the National Technical Conference, when newly elected officials would assume leadership of the institute.
Responding on behalf of the NSE President, the Deputy President, Engr. Valerie Ifueko Agberagba, FNSE, commended the Institute of Appraisers and Cost Engineers for its contributions to the engineering profession, particularly in the area of valuation.She congratulated the outgoing leadership on its achievements, expressing confidence that history would be kind to the administration for its efforts in strengthening the institute.

Engr. Agberagba urged the incoming leadership to build on the existing foundation and take the institute to greater heights through innovation, professionalism and strategic engagement. She assured the Institute of the Nigerian Society of Engineers’ continued support towards repositioning IACE for sustainable growth and enhanced relevance within the engineering profession.
The Deputy President also encouraged the Institute to intensify efforts towards growing its membership, improving publicity for its programmes and regularly communicating its activities to stakeholders in order to enhance visibility and increase its impact within the engineering community.
