
A 20-year-old man, identified as Uwem Daniel Akpan, has reportedly died after he was allegedly stabbed during an argument with a 16-year-old boy in Awi, Akamkpa Local Government Area of Cross River State.
The incident reportedly occurred at about 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
Akpan was rushed to the Naval Reference Hospital in Calabar following the stabbing but was pronounced dead by medical personnel.
The 16-year-old suspect, whose identity has been withheld due to his age, was arrested by the police and is currently in custody.
The deceased’s family has reportedly recovered his body.

Confirming the incident, the Cross River State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Eitokpah Sunday Akata, said the command had commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding Akpan’s death.
Akata stated that the case was being processed for transfer to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Calabar, for further investigation and appropriate legal action.
The police urged members of the public to avoid taking the law into their own hands, assuring that the circumstances surrounding the incident would be thoroughly investigated.
