Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Edo State Command, have arrested a suspect, identified as Esosa Godsent Osagie, for the alleged theft of approximately 60 litres of diesel from a telecommunications facility in the state.
The arrest was confirmed in a statement issued on Monday in Benin City by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Efosa Ogbebor. According to him, the diesel was reportedly siphoned from an IHS Towers facility located in Utesi, on the outskirts of the Edo State capital.
Ogbebor disclosed that the suspect was apprehended on June 13, 2026, following a series of complaints about recurring theft incidents at the facility.
Acting on credible intelligence, NSCDC operatives, in collaboration with local vigilantes, carried out a coordinated operation that led to the arrest.
“Preliminary investigations are ongoing to verify statements obtained from the suspect and to identify any accomplices connected to the crime,” he stated.
