A violent clash suspected to be linked to cult activities has claimed the lives of four people and left two others injured in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.
The incident, which occurred around 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, took place in the Post Office area along the railway line.
According to reports, a group of armed assailants stormed a bamboo shanty bar where residents had gathered and opened fire indiscriminately before fleeing the scene.
Security operatives responded swiftly after receiving a distress call, evacuating the victims to a nearby police medical facility.
Medical personnel later confirmed four fatalities, while two survivors are currently receiving treatment.
Authorities have described the attack as cult-related, revealing that two suspected members of a notorious cult group have been apprehended in connection with the incident.

The suspects are said to be assisting law enforcement with critical information to aid ongoing investigations.
The Kwara State Police Command has intensified efforts to track down other individuals involved in the attack, deploying tactical and intelligence units to ensure all perpetrators are brought to justice.
Condemning the incident, the Commissioner of Police in the state characterized the violence as a serious threat to public peace and assured residents that the command remains committed to restoring safety and order.
Residents have been urged to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies by providing credible information that could support the investigation.
The police also extended condolences to the families of the victims and wished the injured a speedy recovery.
