The Niger State Police Command has arrested several suspects in separate operations linked to armed robbery, tricycle theft, and possession of stolen property across the state.
In the first case, operatives of the Maje Division arrested 43-year-old Ghali Bello over the theft of a tricycle belonging to a trader at Auwal Ibrahim Market, Kwamba. The victim reported on May 8, 2026, that his newly acquired tricycle with registration number MNA 125 VM was stolen from where it was parked after work.
Acting on the complaint, police detectives used technical intelligence to trace the tricycle to Funtua Local Government Area in Katsina State, where it was recovered from the suspect. During interrogation, Bello claimed he received the tricycle from one Sani of Kwamba Motor Park, who is still at large.
Investigations later showed that Bello worked in the same market and had served as guarantor for the victim’s hire-purchase agreement for the tricycle, valued at about N8 million. Both the suspect and the recovered tricycle are in custody for further investigation.
