The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has dismantled multiple drug hideouts across Abuja, arresting 132 suspects and recovering large quantities of illicit substances during a major crackdown.
The operation, carried out between April 11 and April 25, 2026, targeted known drug hotspots within the Federal Capital Territory and surrounding areas.
According to NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi, the raids followed weeks of intelligence gathering and surveillance aimed at disrupting drug trafficking networks fueling crime and substance abuse in the capital.
Areas affected by the coordinated raids include Torabora Hills, Gwarinpa, Durumi, Kubwa, Wuse Zone 4, Garki Area 10, Jabi, and parts of the Suleja axis, among others.

During the operation, NDLEA operatives seized over 220 kilograms of drugs, including large quantities of cannabis (skunk), as well as smaller amounts of cocaine, methamphetamine, tramadol, diazepam, and codeine syrup.
Despite resistance encountered in locations such as Durumi and Suleja Market, the agency reported that its officers successfully subdued the suspects without any casualties, dismantling several drug distribution networks in the process.
Briefing the NDLEA Chairman, Mohamed Buba Marwa, the Director of Operations, Ahmed Sule Ningi, commended the professionalism and coordination of personnel involved in the exercise.
He emphasized the need to sustain the momentum to prevent a resurgence of illicit drug activities.
Marwa, in his response, praised the operatives for their efforts and directed that similar operations be extended to other high-risk urban centres across Nigeria to further curb the spread of illegal drugs nationwide.
