The Nigerian Navy has rescued two kidnapped victims and recovered several stolen outboard engines during an operation in Ibeno, Akwa Ibom State.
The operation, carried out on Wednesday, September 30, followed intelligence about suspected sea robbers and kidnappers targeting fishermen in the area.
The suspects were reportedly involved in abducting fishermen, stealing fishing boats and taking away outboard engines.
Following the information, the Maritime Quick Response Team of Nigerian Navy Ship JUBILEE in Ibeno was deployed to the area to tackle the threat.
The Navy said the operation led to the rescue of the two victims and the recovery of several outboard engines believed to have been stolen.

It described the operation as part of its efforts to protect lives and support legitimate maritime activities across Nigeria’s waterways.
The Navy also urged coastal communities, fishermen and other maritime stakeholders to provide security agencies with timely and credible information that could help prevent criminal activities and assist in rescue operations.
It said it would continue with patrols, search-and-rescue operations and intelligence-led interventions to protect lives and property while restricting the activities of criminals on the nation’s waterways.
