The Nigerian Police have arrested a Nigerian Navy lieutenant, identified as James Emmanuel, alongside another suspect, Felix Dickson, over alleged involvement in cannabis trafficking.
The two suspects were reportedly arrested while travelling in a Toyota Tacoma Hilux fitted with a siren.
According to reports, police officers who searched the vehicle discovered 248 parcels of suspected cannabis concealed in five Ghana Must Go bags.
The discovery allegedly raised suspicion of the suspects’ involvement in the illegal transportation of the substance.
Police sources said Emmanuel and Dickson admitted to the alleged offence during preliminary questioning.
The suspects are currently being held in police custody as investigators continue to probe the circumstances surrounding the alleged drug trafficking operation.

Authorities are expected to investigate the source of the cannabis, its intended destination and whether other individuals may have been involved in the operation.
The arrest comes amid continued efforts by security agencies to curb the trafficking and distribution of illicit drugs across the country.
The suspects are expected to face further legal proceedings after the completion of the investigation.
