The Abia State Police Command has arrested some suspects allegedly involved in the attack on Uratta Divisional Police Headquarters in Aba, which claimed the lives of two police officers.
The attack occurred on October 17, 2026, leaving two officers dead and several others injured while performing their duties.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Wilfred Afolabi, disclosed the arrests while addressing journalists on Friday. He said the suspects were tracked down through credible intelligence and joint efforts with other security agencies.
According to him, investigations are still ongoing to identify and arrest other individuals connected to the attack.
Afolabi also announced the arrest of a woman identified as Chioma Okechukwu, who was allegedly involved in supplying illegal ammunition to criminal groups.
The police commissioner further revealed that the command had arrested several suspected child traffickers and other criminals, some of whom had been prosecuted and remanded in correctional facilities.
He added that a police sergeant recently implicated in pipeline vandalism in the state had been dismissed from the Force in line with the command’s zero-tolerance policy on misconduct.
Afolabi said the command had also trained officers in intelligence gathering and cybercrime investigations to strengthen their crime-fighting capabilities.
Some of the arrested suspects were displayed at the Police Headquarters along Bende Road in Umuahia.
