Troops of the 26 Task Force Brigade Garrison have destroyed two Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) allegedly planted by terrorists along the Gwoza-Wala Road in Borno State, preventing what security officials described as a potential attack on security personnel and civilians.
The explosives were discovered during a routine patrol at about 8:50 a.m. on August 2 between the Golf Bravo and Papa 2 locations along the road.
Following the discovery, the troops immediately secured the area and deployed an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team to safely handle the devices.

The EOD specialists recovered the explosives and carried out a controlled on-site detonation, successfully neutralising both IEDs without causing casualties or damage to nearby property.
Military sources said the operation thwarted a possible attack that could have endangered troops and motorists using the route.
Security officials also disclosed that clearance and route-sanitisation operations are continuing across the North-East as part of ongoing efforts to deny terrorist groups the opportunity to plant explosive devices along key highways and supply routes.
