The Kebbi State Police Command has confirmed the release of Justice Faruk Hassan Bunza of the Kebbi State High Court, who was abducted from his residence in Bunza Local Government Area on July 26, 2026.
The confirmation was made in a statement issued on Monday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bashir Usman. According to the statement, the judge regained his freedom on August 3, with both his family and the Kebbi State Ministry of Justice verifying his safe return.
The police disclosed that although the abductors had demanded ransom during the period of captivity, the command maintained its firm stance against the payment of ransom.
Security agencies were said to have intensified efforts throughout the period to track down the perpetrators.
Authorities have assured that investigations are ongoing, with a commitment to ensuring that those responsible are apprehended and brought to justice.
