Three suspects have been arrested by the Bauchi State Police Command over the killing of a 51-year-old man, Monday Chiroma, following allegations of witchcraft, while another suspect is in custody over the fatal stabbing of a 25-year-old man in a separate incident.
Police spokesperson, SP Nafiu Habib, said Chiroma and another resident, Yelwa Bango, were allegedly attacked in Dandango after being accused of bewitching a 20-year-old woman, Jamila Anthony. The attack reportedly occurred on July 20 at about 11:30 p.m.
The victims were rushed to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital before Chiroma was later transferred to a hospital in Gudun Hausawa, where he died while receiving treatment. Bango survived the attack and received medical care.
The police identified the suspects as Danjuma Anthony, 25; Ayuba Anthony, 22, also known as Babaru; and Christopher Adamu, 34. According to the command, the suspects allegedly confessed during interrogation, while efforts are ongoing to arrest others who fled.
In a separate case, police arrested 21-year-old Al-Amin Hamisu Gidado over the fatal stabbing of Zahradeen Dan’Azumi Tanko, 25, in Unguwan Kur on July 25.

Investigators said Gidado, alongside another suspect, Yahaya Mu’azu, who remains at large, allegedly stabbed the victim in the back. Tanko was taken to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, where he was confirmed dead on arrival.
The Bauchi State Police Command said both cases have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and prosecution.
Commissioner of Police Sani-Omolori Aliyu condemned the incidents and urged residents to shun violence, avoid jungle justice, and report suspicious activities to the police.
