The family of Nura Hudu has called for justice following his alleged killing after he was reportedly assaulted by a group of youths in Makurdi, the Benue State capital, over an outstanding debt of ₦80,000.
According to relatives, the incident occurred on July 22, 2026, following a dispute linked to a business transaction valued at ₦150,000. The family said Hudu had already paid ₦70,000, leaving a balance of ₦80,000.
They alleged that during the disagreement, a woman involved in the transaction reportedly mobilized some youths who attacked Hudu, leaving him with severe injuries.
Family members claimed two individuals witnessed the incident and said officers from the B Division Police Station in the High Level area of Makurdi were alerted after the assault. They further alleged that the victim was later taken by police from the scene but eventually died.
The family also claimed they were later informed to collect Hudu’s body but instead reported the matter to traditional leaders and the Benue State Police Command, after which the remains were moved to the Federal Medical Centre in Makurdi.

Meanwhile, social media campaigns demanding justice for the deceased have continued to gain attention. Flyers circulating online describe Hudu’s death as a brutal killing and urge authorities to conduct a thorough investigation and ensure anyone found responsible is held accountable.
One of the campaign materials states that the deceased is survived by his pregnant wife and three children, while calling on the Benue State Government and security agencies to intervene.
As of the time of reporting, the woman identified by the family had not publicly responded to the allegations, while efforts to reach her were reportedly unsuccessful. Authorities have yet to issue an official statement detailing the circumstances surrounding the incident or announcing any arrests.
