
Panic gripped the Federal University of Lafia community in Nasarawa State after suspected kidnappers launched a night attack, abducting three students from a private lodge near the campus.
The incident, which occurred on Tuesday night, prompted an immediate response from the Nasarawa State Police Command, leading to the successful rescue of one of the victims.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel, the command received a distress call at about 9:20 p.m. from the university’s Chief Security Officer, reporting that armed men had stormed Living Seed Lodge, a student residence located in a bushy area on the outskirts of the campus.
Following the alert, the Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, swiftly deployed tactical teams and patrol operatives to the scene.

Security personnel launched a coordinated search-and-rescue operation across nearby forest areas, resulting in the rescue of one abducted student.
The police spokesperson confirmed that efforts are ongoing to secure the release of the remaining two students still in captivity and to apprehend those responsible for the attack.
He added that the Commissioner has directed all operational and intelligence units to intensify efforts until the victims are safely rescued and the perpetrators brought to justice.
Residents and students have been urged to remain calm while security agencies continue their operations in the area.
