Seventeen players remain at risk of suspension as the 2026 FIFA World Cup heads into the quarter-final stage, with a single yellow card capable of ruling them out of a potential semi-final.
The players are all carrying one booking after the conclusion of the Round of 16, meaning another caution in the quarter-finals will automatically trigger a one-match ban under FIFA’s disciplinary rules.
Morocco has the highest number of players on the suspension watchlist, with Issa Diop, Achraf Hakimi, Redouane Halhal and Bilal El Khannouss all needing to avoid another booking.

England also faces a similar concern, as Jude Bellingham, Nico O’Reilly, Declan Rice and Marc Guehi are one yellow card away from missing the next round should the Three Lions advance.
France’s Michael Olise and Manu Koné are also among the players at risk, while Switzerland’s Granit Xhaka, Denis Zakaria and Miro Muheim must tread carefully in their quarter-final clash.
The list is completed by Spain’s Ferran Torres, Norway’s Antonio Nusa, Belgium’s Brandon Mechele and Argentina’s Gonzalo Montiel.
With places in the semi-finals on the line, the affected players will have to balance their competitive edge with discipline as they aim to keep their World Cup dreams alive without picking up another costly booking.
