The Kano State Road Traffic Agency (KAROTA) has handed over a suspected stolen mini truck, popularly known as “Kurkura,” to the Jakara Division of the Kano State Police Command.
The vehicle was recovered during a night patrol on Monday after KAROTA officials reportedly found suspected thieves attempting to tow it away around 4am.
According to KAROTA, the driver of the towing vehicle fled after the patrol team stopped them and cut the rope connected to the mini truck. Another suspect was left inside the vehicle.
The patrol team, led by the officer in charge of night operations, General Abubakar H. Muhammad, questioned the suspect about why the vehicle was being towed at such an unusual hour.
The suspect reportedly failed to provide a satisfactory explanation before fleeing and abandoning the mini truck.
KAROTA said the vehicle was subsequently taken to its headquarters for safekeeping following a police report concerning its disappearance on September 24, 2026.
At the handover ceremony, the agency’s Managing Director, Faisal Mahmud Kabir, represented by the Director of Personnel Management, Mahmud M. Haido, commended the patrol team for recovering the vehicle.
