The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has foiled an alleged attempt to traffic two minors in Kano State and arrested two suspects in connection with the incident.
The suspects, identified as 25-year-old Sadiq Muhammad Abdullahi and 18-year-old Destiny Joseph, were arrested at Wailari following a report from a family member of one of the children.
According to the NSCDC, the suspects allegedly lured the two minors, aged 10 and 12, with promises of money and gifts, intending to traffic them to another part of the country for financial gain.
Investigators are also examining allegations that the children may have been intended for ritual purposes. The NSCDC said one of the suspects allegedly took photographs of the minors as part of efforts to establish contact with a suspected trafficking syndicate.

The plan was reportedly uncovered after a family member became suspicious and alerted security officials, leading to the suspects’ arrest at their residence.
The NSCDC Kano Commandant, Mohammed Hassan Agalama, has ordered a thorough investigation to uncover the full circumstances surrounding the case and identify anyone else who may be involved.
The suspects are expected to be handed over to the Kano Zonal Command of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) for further investigation and prosecution.
