The Kano State Sports Commission has announced the death of its Secretary, Bashir Maizare.
The commission disclosed the development in a statement issued on Thursday in Kano and signed by its Public Relations Officer, Ashiru Gidan-Tudu.
According to the statement, Maizare died on Wednesday night.
The commission announced that funeral prayers for the deceased would be held on Thursday at his residence in Kofar Wambai, Kano.
It described his death as a significant loss to the sports community in the state.

The commission also prayed to Allah to forgive his shortcomings, show mercy to him and grant his family, colleagues and associates the strength to bear the loss.
It further prayed for the peaceful repose of his soul.
