The Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC) has ordered retired civil servants still occupying government offices to vacate within 48 hours.
The commission also warned that retired officers who continue to receive salaries after leaving service will be investigated.
In a statement signed by its Acting Executive Chairman, Hafsat Ada’u Kutama, the PCACC directed Permanent Secretaries and Directors of Administration to submit lists of officers who had retired by age or years of service but were still occupying government offices.
The directive followed a circular issued by the Head of Civil Service on October 6, 2026, ordering all retired officers to hand over immediately.

According to the commission, remaining in office, collecting salaries and using government property after statutory retirement violate the state’s Civil Service Rules.
The PCACC further warned that anyone found to have received or facilitated the payment of salaries to retired officers would face investigation.
It also announced a confidential whistleblower channel for civil servants and members of the public to report retired officers who remain in government offices.
The commission said the enforcement is aimed at ensuring compliance with the retirement directive and preventing financial losses to the Kano State Government.
