A 60-year-old woman, Hanatu Luka, from Ungwa Makama in Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, has recounted the harrowing experience she endured during two months in the captivity of bandits.
Luka said she and other captives were subjected to severe hardship, including hunger, physical abuse, chaining and exposure to harsh weather conditions.
According to her, the bandits frequently denied the captives adequate food, forcing them to eat grass in order to survive.
“We were forced to eat grass. We endured hunger, they beat and chained us, and sometimes we slept under the rain,” she said.
The woman said the captives lived in constant fear throughout their time in the bush because they did not know when they would regain their freedom or what their abductors might do to them.

She also alleged that some of the captives were molested by their captors during the ordeal.
Luka described the two months as a period marked by fear, hunger and uncertainty, saying the experience had left painful memories that she would struggle to forget.
“Those two months were full of fear and uncertainty. We did not know when we would regain our freedom or what they would do to us,” she said.
The grandmother said returning home had brought relief, but the memories of being beaten and chained, sleeping under the rain and being forced to eat grass remained deeply painful.
She said the ordeal was an experience she would never forget.
