At least two children have lost their lives after a heavy downpour caused a building to collapse in Gandun Sarki Community, Malam Madori Local Government Area of Jigawa State.
The incident reportedly occurred on Friday night when a room where the children, aged five and eight, were sleeping collapsed during the rainfall.
A father of the deceased, Malam Suma’ila, said the heavy rain lasted for more than an hour in parts of the Hadejia Senatorial District, causing widespread destruction and leaving several residents homeless.
According to him, other members of the family were rescued from the collapsed building and taken to Hadejia General Hospital for medical attention.

Residents also called for improved drainage infrastructure and greater government support to reduce the impact of flooding and help affected households recover.
Efforts to obtain a response from the Jigawa State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) were unsuccessful as of the time of filing the report.
