
Five people have lost their lives in a fatal road accident involving a Toyota Camry and an Iveco truck on the Lagos-Badagry Expressway.
The crash occurred in the early hours of Saturday at Sawmill, near Mowo Bus Stop, Lagos.
The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) said it received a distress call at about 5:16am and immediately deployed its Dolphin Team from the Igando base to the scene.
According to LASEMA, preliminary findings indicated that the Toyota Camry, with registration number FKJ 630KS, was travelling at high speed when its driver reportedly lost control, veered into the opposite lane and collided head-on with an oncoming Iveco truck, registered T28081 LA.
Five adult males who were occupants of the Camry died in the collision.
LASEMA said the victims’ remains were recovered and handed over to officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps for further necessary action.

Responders at the scene included LASEMA, the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, the Federal Road Safety Corps and officers from the Morogbo Police Division.
Two tow trucks were deployed to remove the wreckage, after which the vehicles were taken to the Morogbo Police Division. The affected section of the expressway was subsequently cleared and reopened to motorists.
LASEMA Permanent Secretary, Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, expressed condolences to the families of the deceased and urged motorists to avoid speeding, wrongful overtaking and other dangerous driving practices, particularly during early-morning journeys.
He stressed that road safety remained a shared responsibility and called on motorists to exercise greater caution on the roads.
