
Suspected gunmen have attacked a Police Mobile Force (PMF) camp in Kwara State, killing at least three officers and leaving two others injured.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday in Tenebo community, located in Kaiama Local Government Area.
The attack reportedly triggered widespread panic, forcing residents to flee their homes as heavy gunfire echoed through the area.
According to local sources, the assailants arrived in large numbers and launched a coordinated surprise attack on the police formation. The officers on duty were overwhelmed, leading to casualties and injuries.
A resident of the community, Suleiman Issa, recounted the incident, stating that the attack happened around 1:00 a.m., catching both security personnel and villagers off guard.

“It was a terrifying experience. The attackers came in large numbers and began shooting. People were killed, and several others sustained injuries,” he said.
The spokesperson for the Kwara State Police Command confirmed the attack, noting that further details would be provided as investigations continue.
This latest incident adds to the growing security concerns in Kaiama Local Government Area, where communities and security formations have repeatedly come under attack in recent weeks.
Earlier incidents include attacks on security outposts and local guard units, resulting in multiple deaths and destruction of operational equipment.
The pattern of violence has heightened fears among residents and raised fresh concerns about safety in the region.
Authorities are expected to intensify efforts to restore calm and prevent further attacks.
