A 14-year-old girl, identified as Amina Ya’u, has sustained gunshot injuries after suspected armed herders reportedly attacked farmers in Majelisa village, a community bordering Nasarawa and Plateau states.
The incident reportedly occurred around 6:30 a.m. on Thursday, November 5, 2026, following reports of sporadic gunfire in the area.
According to security sources cited by counter-insurgency publication Zagazola Makama, troops of Sector 9, Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP), stationed at Jenta, swiftly responded to a distress call and moved to the community.
Upon arrival, the troops reportedly found the teenage girl suffering from gunshot wounds, while the suspected attackers had fled the scene.
Preliminary investigations indicated that the attack allegedly followed a disagreement between farmers and armed herders over grazing activities.

The injured girl was subsequently evacuated to the General Hospital in Lafia, Nasarawa State, where she received medical attention.
Meanwhile, security personnel are engaging Fulani community leaders to assist in identifying and tracking down the fleeing suspects.
Troops have also intensified patrols and strengthened their presence in the area to prevent further attacks and forestall a possible escalation of tensions.
The incident adds to growing security concerns across Nigeria’s North-Central region, where recurring clashes involving farmers and herders have resulted in loss of lives, destruction of farmlands and displacement of residents.
