Nollywood actress Luchy Donalds has firmly stated that she will never accept roles involving nudity or explicit sexual content, regardless of the financial reward or the scale of the production.
Speaking on her career choices, Donalds emphasized that her stance is non-negotiable. According to her, even the most lucrative offers—including those from Hollywood—would not persuade her to compromise her values.
She explained that cultural perceptions play a significant role in her decision. In many African societies, she noted, audiences often cannot distinguish between acting techniques—such as the use of body doubles—and reality. As a result, she prefers to avoid roles that could be misunderstood.
“People will believe what they see—your face and the body on screen,” she said, adding that this informs her refusal to take on nude or overly sexual roles.
Beyond content boundaries, the actress also revealed that she carefully evaluates scripts before accepting roles. She stated that she would reject any project with a weak storyline, regardless of the pay attached.

Addressing her role as a prostitute in a recent film, Donalds clarified that she did not require extensive emotional or psychological preparation.
She maintained that acting involves embodying diverse characters and bringing them to life convincingly, as long as they align with her personal boundaries.
“I am an actress, and it is my job to portray different characters… except those involving nudity,” she explained.
On whether she conducted real-life research for the role, Donalds said it was unnecessary in this case. She pointed out that such societal realities are commonly observed in everyday life and widely depicted on social media.
However, she acknowledged that certain roles—particularly those involving specialized fields like medicine, law, or cultural traditions—often require deeper research to ensure accuracy.
Donalds also noted that none of the scenes in the film pushed her beyond her comfort zone. She defined stepping out of her comfort zone as doing something she would not ordinarily agree to.
While she remains committed to delivering strong performances and embracing diverse roles, she reiterated her clear limits:
She is open to portraying any character—so long as it does not involve nudity or excessive sexual content.
