Five miners have been killed and two others injured after suspected gunmen attacked a mining site in Marit village, Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The attack reportedly occurred on Saturday while the victims were carrying out mining activities at the site.
The incident has heightened concerns about the safety of miners and residents in parts of Plateau State, particularly amid recent mining-related incidents.

The latest attack came days after four suspected illegal miners died when a sand excavation pit collapsed in Tangur community, Bokkos Local Government Area of the state.
Confirming the attack, the spokesman for the Berom Youth Moulders-Association, Rwang Tengwong, said five people lost their lives while two others sustained injuries.
Tengwong described the incident as painful and called on security agencies to strengthen measures to protect communities and prevent further attacks.
