The Jigawa State Hisbah Corps has arrested eight men following allegations of engaging in same-sex sexual acts with a 22-year-old man in Kazaure Local Government Area.
The Deputy Commander-General of the corps, Dr Hussain Yusuf Baban, confirmed the arrests, saying the investigation began after the young man reported the matter to the authorities.
According to Baban, the complainant, who lives in the Kanti area of Kazaure town, alleged that nine people had engaged in sexual acts with him on different occasions.
He reportedly told the authorities that he later tested positive for HIV and linked the infection to the alleged encounters. He subsequently requested an investigation and sought justice.
Following the complaint, Hisbah operatives began searching for the nine people named by the complainant. Eight suspects have since been arrested, while efforts are continuing to locate the remaining suspect.
The corps said preliminary investigations indicated that some of the arrested suspects made statements allegedly admitting to having sexual relations with the complainant.

Hisbah authorities said the evidence and other relevant information gathered during the investigation would be presented before a court.
Baban also urged parents to pay closer attention to their children’s upbringing and monitor the people they associate with.
He called on residents to be conscious of the consequences of their actions and commended the Jigawa State Government for its support of the Hisbah Corps.
