A Chief Superintendent of Police has been killed after security operatives responding to a distress call were ambushed along the Barkin Ladi–Bokkos road in Plateau State.
The officer was reportedly attached to Operation Rainbow, a security outfit operating in the state, and was responding to reports of an attack on a community when the team came under attack on Tuesday.
Three civilians were also reportedly killed in a separate attack at Rakok, also known as Kafi Abu, in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area.
The incidents reportedly occurred around the same period that the President of the Berom Youth Moulders Association, Mwantiri, escaped an ambush.
Details surrounding the attacks, including the identities of the victims, were not immediately available.
The latest violence occurred amid heightened security concerns in parts of Plateau State, particularly Barkin Ladi, Bokkos and Mangu.
The Plateau State Government had imposed a dusk-to-dawn curfew in the three local government areas following a series of attacks and reprisal incidents.
The directive, announced on Monday, requires residents to remain indoors from 6pm to 6am until further notice.
Commissioner for Information and Communication, Joyce Lohya, said the measure was introduced to allow security agencies to stabilise the affected areas, protect residents and prevent further breakdown of law and order.
The government also banned the use of motorcycles within the affected areas and directed security personnel to enforce the restrictions.
The latest incidents followed another attack in Barkin Ladi, where troops reportedly repelled a suspected reprisal attack after a local resident was killed.

The incident occurred at about 8pm at Marit Junction after troops received information that two residents had been attacked.
Military sources said the troops arrived at the location and found that one of the victims, identified as 53-year-old Rev. Andy Samuel, had been shot dead, while the second victim sustained injuries and was taken to the General Hospital for treatment.
The troops reportedly came under attack shortly after leaving the hospital.
Reinforcements from Sector 8, supported by other security personnel and Nigerian Air Force Super Tucano aircraft, were deployed to the area.
The attackers were reportedly suspected to be carrying out a reprisal following earlier violence in Dorowa Babuje, Sherum, Maraban Kantoma and Lajam communities, all in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area.
The troops reportedly repelled the attackers and prevented the violence from spreading to neighbouring communities.
Security agencies have continued to increase patrols and deployments in the affected areas as authorities work to contain the renewed violence.
