
Suspected gunmen have abducted a 60-year-old headmaster, Kolawale Mathew Owoade, popularly known as Onaiye, in Itesiwaju Local Government Area of Oyo State, demanding a ransom of N30 million for his release.
The incident reportedly occurred on the evening of Saturday, July 11, while Owoade was returning from his farm in Budo Aare. According to his son, Abiola Owoade, the kidnappers later contacted the family using the victim’s mobile phone and demanded the ransom.
A search party later recovered the victim’s motorcycle abandoned in a nearby bush on Sunday morning, raising concerns over his safety.

The family has appealed to the Nigerian Army, the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Amotekun Corps, hunters, vigilantes, and other security agencies to intensify efforts to rescue the headmaster unharmed.
The abduction has thrown the local education community into distress, with colleagues and residents expressing concern over the growing insecurity in the area.
Confirming the incident, the Oyo State Police Command said the victim, who was also identified as a farmer, was kidnapped at his farm in Budo Aare. Police added that efforts are ongoing to secure his safe rescue and arrest those responsible for the crime.
