
Operatives of the Oyo State Police Command have arrested a suspected criminal during a security operation in the Bodija area of Ibadan, recovering a locally made pistol, a live cartridge, and suspected illicit drugs.
The arrest was made on July 11 after officers intercepted a group of suspects. According to the command’s spokesperson, CSP Olayinka Ayanlade, two of the suspects escaped from the scene on a motorcycle, while another threw a small bag into a nearby drainage before fleeing.

One suspect, identified as Hammed Lateef, was apprehended and is currently in police custody.
A search of the discarded bag led to the recovery of a locally fabricated pistol, one live cartridge, several sachets of substances suspected to be tramadol, and a passport photograph believed to belong to one of the fleeing suspects.
Police said investigations are ongoing, while efforts have been intensified to track down and arrest the remaining suspects. The command reiterated its commitment to tackling crime and ensuring the safety of residents across Oyo State.
