
Gunmen have assassinated a former Chief Security Officer of Khana Local Government Area in Rivers State, Letam Kine.
The incident occurred on Sunday evening around 6 p.m. along Polytechnic Road in Bori, the headquarters of Khana LGA. Reports indicate that the attackers opened fire on Kine and fled the scene before security operatives could respond.
Confirming the development, the Rivers State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Blessing Agabe, stated that the victim’s body has been deposited in a mortuary and will be preserved pending an autopsy.
According to the police spokesperson, a full-scale investigation has been launched to uncover the circumstances surrounding the killing and identify those responsible.

“The Rivers State Police Command has commenced a comprehensive investigation to ensure that the perpetrators are tracked down and brought to justice,” she said.
Agabe also urged the family of the deceased to formally report the incident to aid the investigative process, while reaffirming the command’s commitment to ensuring justice is served.
Reacting to the incident, the Chairman of Khana Local Government Area, Chief Thomas Bariere, condemned the killing, describing it as a senseless and heartbreaking act of violence.
He expressed concern over the rising insecurity in the area, noting that the incident comes just weeks after the murder of Clement Deegbara in Kpong Community.
Bariere emphasized that such acts of violence have no place in a peaceful society and called for urgent measures to address the growing security challenges in the region
