Veteran Nollywood actor Francis Duru has debunked reports claiming he is battling a terminal illness, saying the viral video circulating online does not reflect his health status.
The rumors spread quickly on social media after a clip showing the actor looking frail surfaced online, sparking concern among fans and colleagues. In response, Duru posted a video on Instagram to set the record straight.
“My dear fans, greetings to you all. Thank you for always being there for me with your prayers and your wishes,” he said. “I’m making this video in regards to a very wicked video circulating about me being sick to that very level you can see in the video. I have never been that sick and would never be that sick.”
The actor described the clip as the work of “merchants of darkness and wickedness” who spread negativity for traffic. He added that he is healthy and getting stronger by God’s grace.

“That video is the handiwork of those who sit and concoct negativity for people. They just don’t want to see people rise or believe in people’s success. This is me talking to you. Anything beyond this is their business,” he said.
Despite the clarification, the video also drew comments about Duru’s physical appearance and noticeable weight loss. Fans flooded his comment section with prayers and messages of concern, urging him to take care of his health.
One fan wrote, “You’re looking so slim and sound weak, divine healing upon you sir… We will not lose you in Jesus’ name.” Another said, “But you look sick or is it me? I pray God gives you healing in any area where you need it.”
Duru has not provided details on his current health condition beyond dismissing the terminal illness claim.
