Security operatives have arrested four herders in connection with the alleged destruction of a farmland in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The suspects were apprehended by troops of Sector 3 under Operation Enduring Peace following a distress call from residents of Ricochongo Village at about 3:20 p.m. on August 5.
According to security sources, the affected farmland belongs to one Azumi Ade, whose crops were reportedly destroyed with machetes before the arrival of the troops.

Upon reaching the scene, the operatives discovered extensive damage to the crops. The main suspect, identified as Idris Hashimu, reportedly fled upon sighting the troops and is currently on the run.
However, four other suspects—Isa Adamu, Abdullahi Adamu, Mohammadu Lawal, and Abubakar Nura—were arrested at the scene.
Security personnel also recovered two cows believed to be linked to the incident.
The suspects, along with the recovered livestock, are currently in custody as investigations continue. Efforts are ongoing to track down and apprehend the fleeing suspect.
