Concern is growing over the reported arrest and alleged assault of a young content creator, Kelwizzy, who has recently been using social media to highlight the poor condition of roads in Nsukka, particularly during the rainy season.
According to reports, just a few weeks after he began posting videos raising awareness about the deplorable state of the roads, some individuals allegedly traced him to his residence on Thursday afternoon. He was reportedly taken to an area near Aro Uno Primary School, where he was assaulted before being transferred to the Nsukka Divisional Police Station.

Sources say Kelwizzy is currently being held in police custody and is suffering from injuries allegedly sustained during the assault, with concerns over his health and continued detention.
When inquiries were made regarding the reason for his arrest, it was allegedly stated that his videos exposing the condition of Nsukka roads had displeased certain individuals.
There’s concerns about freedom of expression and the right of citizens to peacefully draw attention to issues affecting their communities. Highlighting the poor state of public infrastructure should not be treated as a criminal offense.
There is a growing call for the authorities to ensure Kelwizzy’s safety, investigate the circumstances surrounding his arrest and alleged assault, and, if no lawful basis exists for his continued detention, secure his immediate release.
