
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested 560 suspects during a large-scale security operation aimed at tackling criminal activities across Abuja.
The operation, carried out through intelligence-led policing and community-based information gathering, targeted several identified criminal hideouts and black spots within the nation’s capital.
Speaking during a media briefing, the Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, said the coordinated raids were conducted by divisional police formations across the FCT. He explained that the exercise resulted in the arrest of hundreds of suspects and the recovery of various incriminating items.
According to the police commissioner, officers recovered illicit drugs, dangerous weapons and other exhibits believed to be linked to criminal activities. The recovered firearms included a locally fabricated pistol, a locally made AK-47 rifle and three rounds of live 9mm ammunition.

Sanusi said the command remains committed to sustaining its offensive against criminal elements operating within the Federal Capital Territory. He stressed that the police would continue intelligence-driven operations to ensure the safety of residents and maintain law and order.
He also urged members of the public to support security agencies by providing timely and credible information that could aid ongoing efforts to prevent crime and improve security across Abuja.
The FCT Police Command reaffirmed its determination to rid the capital city of criminal activities, assuring residents that security operations would continue as part of broader efforts to safeguard lives and property.
