
The Federal Capital Territory Police Commissioner, Ahmed Mohammed Sanusi, on Wednesday disclosed that two bandits belonging to a gang terrorising Abuja communities were shot dead during a joint security operation.
Sanusi said he led the operation on Tuesday at about 9:00 p.m. targeting the gang responsible for the abduction of five residents of Paze community in Byazhin ward, Bwari Area Council, last week. The kidnappers had invaded Paze on Thursday, abducting five people including a pastor and killing a local vigilante member identified as Shuaibu Yerima.
According to the police commissioner, operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, NPF Intelligence Response Team, Kubwa Area Command, local hunters and vigilante groups collaborated on the search, clearance and rescue operation across Paze and Byazhin communities.

The operation led to the rescue of all five kidnapped victims, who have been taken to a nearby hospital for medical attention. Efforts are ongoing to reunite them with their families.
Sanusi confirmed that two gang members were killed during a crossfire, while two suspects, Icheh Mohammadu and Abubakar Usman, were arrested. Other gang members reportedly fled into nearby hills. The police team also recovered two AK-47 rifles with magazines during the operation.
The FCT Police Command said investigations and pursuit of fleeing members of the gang are ongoing to restore safety in affected communities.
