The family of Abdullahi Bello has appealed to authorities to ensure justice after he was allegedly killed in a case of mistaken identity in the Rantiya area of Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State.
According to his sister, Hannatu Bello, the incident came to light after she received a phone call from a police officer informing her that her brother had been found critically injured and taken to a hospital in Dadin Kowa.
She said she immediately travelled to the hospital with their mother, where they found Abdullahi unconscious with severe injuries. He later died from the injuries he sustained.

Hannatu alleged that security personnel informed her that local vigilantes reported her brother had been attacked by individuals who mistakenly believed he was of Fulani origin because of his physical appearance.
She insisted that her brother was not Fulani and described the killing as a tragic and inhumane act.
The family is urging the Plateau State Police Command to carry out a thorough investigation, identify those responsible, and bring them to justice. Hannatu also called on investigators to examine the victim’s phone records, which are reportedly in police custody, to help trace his last known contacts before the attack.
She expressed confidence that the state government would ensure justice while maintaining that the family remains peaceful despite the painful loss.
As of the time of filing this report, the Plateau State Police Command had not issued an official statement regarding the incident.
