Veteran Nollywood actor Emeka Ike has urged the Federal Government to act decisively against rising insecurity in Nigeria, warning that no one is safe if the situation continues unchecked.
Ike made the appeal on Thursday during a protest in Abuja organised under the “Tinubu Must Go” movement by social and human rights activist VeryDarkMan. Speaking to the crowd, the actor expressed deep concern over how insecurity has eroded the daily lives of ordinary Nigerians, particularly their freedom of movement.
He noted that road travel, once a common and convenient means of transportation, has become a major source of fear due to repeated cases of kidnappings and armed attacks on highways across the country. According to Ike, many Nigerians now embark on journeys with anxiety rather than confidence, as reports of abductions make travel increasingly dangerous.

The actor lamented that the growing fear has forced people to change their movement patterns. Some avoid certain routes entirely, while others limit how often they travel. He stressed that this situation has added pressure on families and businesses already struggling with economic hardship.
Ike argued that insecurity is not just a political issue but one that directly affects livelihoods, mobility, and the general well-being of citizens nationwide. He called on authorities to intensify efforts to dismantle criminal networks behind kidnappings and violent attacks, warning that failure to act could worsen the crisis.
Concluding his remarks in a video that circulated widely on social media and was obtained by Daily Sun via X, Ike made an emotional plea to the government. “I love travelling by road, but today I am denied that freedom. So many Nigerians love travelling by road, but we are no longer safe. We are begging the government, please don’t let this go too far. It might be your children tomorrow.”
