The abducted school principal in Oyo State, has made an emotional appeal to the government and Nigerians, urging them not to politicise the ongoing efforts to secure the release of dozens of kidnapped pupils and teachers.
Mrs. Alamu, who is the principal of Community High School, Ahoro-Esiele in Oriire Local Government Area, spoke in a video believed to have been recorded from the kidnappers’ hideout.

According to her, such claims were false and could complicate efforts to secure their release. She stated that during their time in captivity, the abductors had not forced the victims to practice any religion or made demands related to Sharia law.
Instead, she claimed that the group’s main request was the release of some individuals believed to be in government custody.Alamu expressed concern that inaccurate information being circulated about the kidnappers’ demands could put the lives of the captives at greater risk.
She urged authorities to engage in negotiations and find a peaceful resolution to the crisis. The principal also called on Nigerians to help amplify her plea, insisting that the focus should remain on bringing the abducted pupils and teachers home safely rather than turning the situation into a political issue.
The victims were kidnapped during a coordinated attack on several schools in Oriire Local Government Area on May 15, 2026. The incident saw more than 40 pupils and teachers taken away by armed men, sparking nationwide concern and calls for their immediate rescue.
As anxiety grows among families and residents, many continue to hope for a breakthrough that will lead to the safe return of all those still being held captive.
