Arsenal Women forward Beth Mead has confirmed she will depart the club at the end of the current season following the expiration of her contract, bringing an end to a remarkable nine-year spell in North London.
Mead, who joined Arsenal W.F.C. from Sunderland in 2017, leaves as one of the most influential figures in the club’s modern era. During her time with the Gunners, she made 265 appearances and scored 86 goals across all competitions.
Her trophy cabinet at Arsenal includes a Women’s Super League title, three League Cups, and European success, marking her out as one of the club’s most decorated forwards.
In an emotional farewell message, Mead expressed deep gratitude to the club and supporters, describing her departure as a painful decision.

Beyond club success, Mead also rose to global prominence with the England national team, playing a pivotal role in their UEFA Women’s Euro 2022 triumph, where she was named Player of the Tournament.
She also featured in England’s successful title defence in 2025.
Arsenal’s Director of Women’s Football, Clare Wheatley, praised Mead’s contribution, describing her as a “legend of the club” whose impact will be remembered for years to come.
Mead is one of three players leaving the club this summer, alongside Laia Codina and Victoria Pelova, as Arsenal prepare for a squad rebuild under head coach Renée Slegers in pursuit of ending their league title drought since 2019.
Her departure marks the end of an era for Arsenal Women, closing a chapter defined by consistency, leadership, and unforgettable moments on both domestic and European stages.
