A 500-level female student of Fr Moses Adasu University, formerly Benue State University, has been arrested by the Benue State Police Command for allegedly pouring hot water mixed with salt and pepper on her fellow student following a disagreement.
The incident reportedly occurred on Friday, August 28, 2026, with the victim, identified as Rose, a 200-level Political Science student, sustaining injuries in the alleged attack.
The Police Public Relations Officer in Benue State, DSP Peter Aondongu, confirmed the incident on Saturday, saying an investigation had commenced to determine what led to the altercation between the two students.
According to the police spokesperson, the suspect allegedly boiled water, added salt and pepper, and poured the mixture on the victim before locking her inside the room.
He explained that people later became aware of the situation, intervened, and rescued the victim, who was subsequently taken to a hospital for medical treatment. The suspect was also arrested by the police.
The exact cause of the disagreement remains unclear, although reports indicate that the two female students had been living together before personal disagreements allegedly strained their relationship.

The Students’ Union President, Akighirga Vitalis, who led members of the union executive to the hospital, said the victim explained that a disagreement between her and the suspect, identified as Felicia, had escalated into the alleged violent attack.
Vitalis condemned the incident, describing it as a serious and unacceptable assault on the life and wellbeing of another student.
He assured students that the union would continue to follow the matter closely, engage relevant authorities and monitor both the police investigation and any disciplinary proceedings by the university.
The Students’ Union President further stated that if the allegations against the suspect are established through due process, the union would support appropriate sanctions under the university’s regulations.
He stressed that the union would not tolerate violence or any action capable of endangering the life of another student.
Meanwhile, the police investigation is ongoing as authorities work to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
