Troops operating under Operation EndURING PEACE have arrested a commercial driver following an alleged assault on a soldier by members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in Bauchi State.
The incident reportedly occurred on Wednesday evening at Zwall Guard Location in Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area of the state.
According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, the soldier, identified as Hezekiah Usoko, was carrying out a traffic-related check when the incident occurred.
Usoko was reportedly attempting to inspect a commercial driver accused of obstructing traffic while picking up passengers when some NURTW members allegedly confronted and assaulted him.
The soldier was said to have sustained minor injuries during the altercation.
Following a distress report, troops from Sector 8, Sub-Sector 82, Operation ENDURING PEACE, arrived at the scene at about 6:02 pm.

The troops subsequently arrested the commercial driver involved in the incident and impounded the vehicle, identified as a Zectra with registration number KTS 462-KTN.
Security authorities have commenced an investigation into the incident to determine what led to the confrontation and establish the circumstances surrounding the alleged assault.
The development comes amid continued efforts by security agencies to maintain order and ensure compliance with traffic regulations across communities in the state.
