The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 26-year-old man, Emmanuel Jacob, over the alleged theft of seven solar panels belonging to the Federal Government Girls’ College, Bauchi.
The command said four of the stolen solar panels had been recovered from the suspect, while efforts were ongoing to recover the remaining three and identify other individuals allegedly involved in receiving the stolen items.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Habib, disclosed this in a statement issued in Bauchi on Wednesday.
According to him, the case was reported to the police and taken up by operatives of the ‘A’ Division, Township, Bauchi, as part of efforts under the Safe School Initiative to curb property-related crimes around educational institutions.

Habib said Jacob was arrested following investigations into the disappearance of the seven solar panels.
He explained that subsequent police operations led to the recovery of four of the stolen panels from the suspect.
The police spokesman added that investigators were working to recover the remaining three panels and trace those who allegedly received or disposed of the stolen property.
He said the suspect remained in police custody and would be charged to court after the completion of investigations.
The command reaffirmed its commitment to protecting educational institutions and ensuring that individuals involved in the theft of school property are brought to justice.
