Barcelona coach Hansi Flick has agreed to extend his contract with FC Barcelona until 2028 following another successful season with the Catalan giants.
The German tactician secured his second La Liga title in two seasons after Barcelona’s victory over rivals Real Madrid on Sunday confirmed the championship with three matches still left to play.

Flick, 61, was initially contracted until next season but has now agreed to a one-year extension, with an option for an additional year. Speaking after the agreement, the former Germany national football team coach expressed delight at the confidence shown in him by the club’s hierarchy.
According to Flick, the shorter contract structure suits both parties, noting that lengthy managerial deals are not always ideal at Barcelona.
He added that both he and the club would review the situation again before deciding on a possible further extension beyond 2028.
Barcelona are also on course to finish the league campaign with 100 points after wrapping up the title race early.
The announcement came during an emotional period for Flick, whose father reportedly passed away over the weekend. A minute’s silence was observed before Sunday’s title-clinching encounter.
Flick replaced Xavi Hernández as Barcelona manager in the summer of 2024 and has since guided the club to both league and domestic cup success, including the Copa del Rey title in his debut campaign.
Before joining Barcelona, Flick enjoyed a successful spell with Bayern Munich between 2019 and 2021, winning back-to-back Bundesliga titles, the UEFA Champions League, and the Club World Cup in 2020.
