The Anambra State Police Command has recovered two locally fabricated pistols and three caps linked to the Vikings Confraternity after suspected criminals abandoned a motorcycle while fleeing from security operatives in Awka North Local Government Area.
According to the command’s spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the recovery was made during a routine patrol carried out by officers attached to the Violent Crime Response Unit along the Isuaniocha Bridge on Thursday.
Ikenga explained that the police team became suspicious after spotting two young men riding a black Sanyang motorcycle without a registration number. The suspects reportedly made a sudden and reckless turn after noticing the officers, prompting the police to pursue them.
During the chase, the suspects reportedly fell from the motorcycle and fled into a nearby bush, abandoning the motorcycle, a bag, and two slippers.

A search of the abandoned bag led to the discovery of two locally fabricated pistols and three caps bearing inscriptions associated with the Vikings Confraternity.
The police spokesperson described the operation as another significant achievement in the command’s ongoing efforts to combat crime across the state.
He added that investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend the fleeing suspects while authorities work to determine their affiliations and the circumstances surrounding the recovered weapons.
The Anambra State Police Command has urged residents to remain vigilant and continue supporting security agencies by providing useful information that could help in the fight against criminal activities.
