
The Anambra State Police Command has successfully rescued a kidnapped electrician and arrested three suspected members of a kidnapping syndicate during a coordinated bush operation in the state.
According to a statement released on Friday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the operation was carried out on April 18, 2026, by a joint security team comprising operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Awkuzu, and members of the Agunechemba Vigilante Group in Nnobi, Idemili North Local Government Area.
The team reportedly stormed a forested hideout at Umuezeala Awuda Village, Awuda Nnobi, following credible intelligence about criminal activities in the area.
During the raid, three male suspects were arrested. They were identified as Chidalu Obi (25), Chichebem Ojenigbo (26), and Chikannechukwu Eze (20).

The police also rescued an electrician who had been lured by the suspects under the pretence of offering him a job opportunity. On arrival at the location, the victim was allegedly ambushed, blindfolded at gunpoint, and taken into the bush where he was held captive.
Items recovered from the suspects included one locally made Beretta pistol and a sum of ₦469,000 believed to be ransom money. Investigations further revealed that the ransom had already been paid and allegedly transferred into a SportyBet account linked to one of the suspects, Chidalu Obi.
The command confirmed that the suspects have made useful confessions during interrogation and are currently assisting ongoing investigations.
Reaffirming the command’s commitment to combating crime, SP Ikenga stated that the police remain determined to rid the state of criminal elements and ensure the safety of residents.
He also urged members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies, emphasizing that community cooperation remains vital in the fight against kidnapping and other violent crimes in Anambra State.
