
The Neighborhood Watch personnel in Ogurugu Community, Uzo Uwani Local Government Area of Enugu State, have arrested four suspected kidnappers and rescued a victim, as part of intensified efforts to combat criminal activities in the area.
The operation, which took place on Sunday, May 17, 2026, was carried out in collaboration with naval personnel attached to the Madueke Naval Base, Ogurugu, alongside other local security operatives.
According to a senior police officer attached to the Adani Division of the Nigerian Police Force, the suspects were brought to the police division at about 2:46 p.m. on the said date by the naval patrol team and local security personnel.

The suspects were identified as Friday Nweke, 27; Monday Osondu, 25; Obiyor Monday, 26; and Davinson Omolo, 24, all natives of Ogurugu Community.
The police source disclosed that the suspects are currently in detention at the Adani Police Division, where investigations are ongoing.
Preliminary reports alleged that the suspects are members of a gang involved in the abduction of one Destiny Obiora, a female indigene of Ogurugu Community, who was reportedly kidnapped penultimate week before being rescued.
Reacting to the development, the Executive Chairman of Uzo Uwani Local Government Area, Barr. Chijioke Ezugwu, commended the bravery and swift intervention of the local security operatives, naval officers, and the police.
The chairman also issued a stern warning to individuals involved in criminal activities to desist or face the full weight of the law.
“I commend the gallantry of our personnel, including the local vigilante group, naval officers, and the police for their swift response and commitment to safeguarding lives and property. I want to warn criminal elements once again to turn a new leaf or be prepared to face the full wrath of the law,” Ezugwu stated.
