The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kano State Command, has arrested a 27-year-old man, Yusuf Abdulrazaq, for allegedly impersonating an officer of the Corps and extorting money from members of the public.
The arrest was confirmed in a statement issued on Thursday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SC Ibrahim Idris Abdullahi, on behalf of the State Commandant.
According to the statement, Abdulrazaq was apprehended at Rimin Auzinawa in Ungogo Local Government Area of Kano State for allegedly posing as an Assistant Superintendent of Corps I (ASC I), a rank represented by two stars.
The suspect reportedly claimed to be serving at the NSCDC State Command Headquarters.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect allegedly offered to help members of the public track stolen mobile phones but used the service to extort money from unsuspecting individuals.
