The Kano State Police Command has arrested a 35-year-old man, identified as Adamu Musa, for allegedly impersonating a senior police officer and defrauding members of the public with promises of securing positions in the Nigeria Police Force.
Musa, who resides in Kureken Sani Quarters in Kano, was reportedly apprehended by operatives of the Panshekara Police Division on September 1, 2026, following intelligence received by the command.
The command’s spokesperson, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, confirmed the arrest in a statement made available to journalists.
According to the police, the arrest followed a distress report received from the Police Mobile Force, Challawa, at about 7:30 p.m. Operatives were subsequently deployed to the area, leading to the suspect’s arrest.
Preliminary investigations allegedly revealed that Musa had been presenting himself as a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) and claiming to have connections within the police hierarchy.

He was accused of telling unsuspecting individuals that he could help them secure police recruitment slots, transfers and postings in exchange for money.
The police further alleged that the suspect used edited photographs and artificial intelligence-generated images showing him alongside senior officers to strengthen his claims and convince potential victims that he was a genuine police officer.
During a search of his residence, investigators reportedly recovered police-related clothing and other items, including a black jacket uniform, two pairs of black shoes, a camouflage uniform, a blue uniform top and N300,000 in cash.
The suspect remains in police custody as investigations continue.
The police said he would be charged to court after the completion of the investigation.
